Master's Athletes Dinner at the American Legion Hall

New this year: Gaelic Football at Henne Field, downtown Saline

What is Gaelic Football? It is a sport played by 15 players a side where you can kick, carry, dribble or throw a round ball. It combines hockey, basket ball, rugby, soccer and mayhem. It is uniquely Irish and (as far as we know) unique to Celtic Festivals as an event. It will be played on Friday July 11, at Henne Field, downtown Saline as part of the Festival week in Saline. Three time North American Champion Gaelic Football team the Detroit Wolfe Tones will play a match on Friday July 11, at 7:00PM as part of the Saline Celtic Festival celebration. Gaelic Football is one of the traditional sports in Ireland. It combines the skills of basketball, soccer, rugby . Thirteen players aside compete to score goals by kicking or hitting a ball into a net or over a goal post. It is fast paced and unique to the Festival. More information will be available when the opponent is named. The Wolfe Tones who take their name from an Irish patriot, play in the Midwest League against teams from Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. After the match the Festival offers Pub in the Park a celebration of music and good times.

$5.00 per person cover charge for the evening. Children under 12 will be admitted for free.
There will be "readings of limericks" and "legs a plenty" as the 2nd annual MR. PRETTY LEGS CONTEST gets under way at 8:00 pm.
Come relax and enjoy live music throughout the evening. Beverages and alcoholic drinks available. For your enjoyment various food vendors will be open.

CALLING ALL MEN IN KILTS…
The 2008 Saline Celtic Festival is currently seeking men who wear their kilts with pride and are interested in representing the Festival in the second annual “MR. PRETTY LEGS “ competition.

This event will be held Friday evening, JULY 11, at 8:00 p.m. in the RED DRAGON TENT.  All entrants will anonymously “walk the walk” across the stage and be rated by a panel of experienced judges.
