HIGHLAND DANCE COMPETITION

The Highland Dance Competition at the Celtic Festival is held within the Festival now located at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds - 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103. This new location offers free on-site parking.

The Dance Competition is a premier event offering trophies and cash prizes as well as full access to the festival. With plenty of room to settle in and a wide variety of Festival activities, it is a family friendly event.

Pre-Premier & Premier Solo Choreography Competition

(Immediately following the Pre-Premier competition - the approximate start time is noon.)(Primary awards will be presented before this event.)

 

THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF SIX REGISTRATIONS FOR THESE SOLO CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITIONS-so reserve your spot now!

 

Performance is limited to 1-minute 30-seconds including entrance, exit and staging of props.

Morning Dancing *

9:15 am - Registration

10:00 am - Start time

11:30 am (approximately) - Choreography Competition

Afternoon Dancing

12:45 pm - Registration

1:30 pm - Start Time

There is plenty of space to set up your canopy and other equipment.

No. Dancer registration and advance Festival tickets will be on lists with the check-in staff.

Rules & Procedures

1. The dance competition will conform to SOBHD rules and standards. The decision of the Judge is final.

2. The dancers are required to have a 2023 registration card.

3. Dancers will compete in their age groups according to their age on [TBA].

4. The competition committee reserves the right to combine or divide classes depending upon entries received.

5. Dancers entering the competition first will dance last.

6. A trophy will be awarded to the highest aggregate point winner in each age group. No trophy for Primary.

7. “Most Promising Dancer“ will be awarded in each “Pre-Premier group.

8. Communication with the judge or piper regarding the competition, by the competitor or other interested parties is not allowed. This may result in disqualification.

9. Dancers must be ready and appear when called. Dancers failing to do so will forfeit their chance to dance in that event.

10. Dancers must be in costume to receive awards.

11. No field entries accepted.
