No one knows for certain who built Stonehenge - or why they built it.

We know who is building Strawhenge - it's Jim Peters, long-time Festival executive team member & creator of the interactive Mill Pond Millie exhibit and a team of enthusiastic and generous members of the Washtenaw Farm Council are building Strawhenge.

Why? Because...

• we now have the space for a half-scale model of Stonehenge in its present ruin state - and to perfectly align it with the winter & summer solstices.

• we have access to the 12-tons of straw needed to build Strawhenge.

• people are willing to let us use their heavy machinery to move, stack and secure over one hundred 1,000-pound super bales of straw.

• we can.
